Wild Realms: Forest and Savannah

Common Agama (Agama agama): The Colorful Survivor

In the heat of the African savannah, the common agama is a striking sight with its vibrant blue and orange colors during the mating season. These small reptiles are masters of survival, thriving in some of the harshest conditions. One agama, nicknamed "Flash" by researchers, became known for his boldness around human settlements in the Serengeti.

Flash was often seen basking on rocks or scurrying across dusty paths in search of insects. During one dry season, when food was scarce, Flash began following safari vehicles, feeding on the insects stirred up by their tires. His opportunistic behavior quickly made him a favorite among guides and tourists.

Despite his small size, Flash wasn’t afraid to stand his ground. One day, a much larger lizard tried to invade his territory, but Flash puffed out his body, displayed his bright throat pouch, and performed a series of push-ups to assert dominance. His confidence and adaptability made him a fascinating example of how even the smallest creatures thrive in the wild.
